Islay Coronavirus Welfare Relief

Since the first week of April 2020, Dunlossit and Islay Community Trust has been supporting the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable people on Islay by sourcing and providing quality food welfare boxes as part of the wider relief effort coordinated by the Islay Resilience Group. As at the end of July 2020, more than 200 households have benefited from our welfare boxes and we anticipate that the relief programme will continue for the foreseeable future. Information for Current Grantees

As a responsible funder, the Dunlossit and Islay Community Trust is committed to being as helpful as possible during the coming weeks and months so that the voluntary sector can focus on supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. Our Trustees understand that there will be times when your work is disrupted or even stopped. We know that there will be times when your staff and volunteers will not be available, and your beneficiaries may need services to be provided in different ways, or when your systems need to be flexible to ensure that needs are met.

If your organisation is affected by the covid-19 outbreak, and you receive grant funding from us, we want you to know that our commitment is to:

Adapt – we understand that you may experience difficulties achieving some of the outputs or outcomes we agreed for your grant during the outbreak. Please have a conversation with us if you are affected in this way.

Relax our Deadlines – we don’t want to add pressure, so if you think you will struggle to meet a reporting deadline please contact us so that we can agree a more realistic reporting schedule where possible.

Provide financial flexibility – we know that you may need to use your grant to help cover staff absences, for the purchase of equipment, or to deliver services differently during this crisis and we will be reasonable in providing financial flexibility to ensure your work can continue. Please contact us to discuss your situation and any proposed changes to your grant expenditure.

Listen to you – we are here if you want to talk to us about the situation you’re facing, but we will give you space and wait for you to contact us so that these conversations are at the right time for you.
